damn!!! something sort-of the same happened to me. i was racing a quick lil mr2,and i went from 5th to 2nd, and my interior popped so fckn loud, basiclly stock at the time, and my abs in op, change oil, low trac, low coolant, e-brake, danm near all lights came on.
i did beat the lil fckr though. got on an off ramp, threw it in neutral, killed it while rolling, started back up and everythig was normal.
i would suggest disconnect batt. and in the fuse box under the hood pull out pcm batt. fuse and tcs fuse right next to it, and let it set for about 15 min, then put fuses back and hook batt. back up and maybe that will help.
lol=lots of luck

Do all other lamps work OK? High beams? Park lamps, markers, reverse, DRL's? Do the dash lamps come on?

I had a similar problem (although different) driving a Spirit R/T. I dropped in in first gear at 20mph and got on it...the turbo spooled up and I had such violent wheel hop that it actually shatterd both headlight bulbs! Don't laugh, that car would routinely blow away my cousin's Mustang GT back in the day...I guess you don't have a bulb problem..but I'd thought I'd share anyway..that's pretty damn funny.

This is going to sound real odd, but could have the alternator generated a spike and somehow damaged a relay? (Id check fuses and relays)...

Headlight switch or relay due to a "spike" in the system?

You've checked the bulbs, but I think you should try new bulbs.

Might have to use a DMM to trace voltage from fuse panel to bulb socket.

Kinda reminds me of when I changed out my shocks and then the car didn't want to start up.
