Default wheel bearing

How big of a job is it to replace the driverside front wheel bearing?

Not bad. Jack the car and use stands. Pull the wheel, calipar, rotor, then go for the wheel bearing. It is in with 4 bolts, as I remember. Should take less than 2 hours.

Make sure you load the new bearing with good grease.

If you do one side, you should probably do the other too.

You can't load the bearing up with grease since it is a sealed unit. You replace the entire hub. You can get them at Autozone. Good Luck. This is easy. remove the wheel, breake caliper and rotor then the ABS wire and the four bolts.

Once you get the four hub bolts out, it's highly likely that the hub will still be "stuck". It is a tight fit in the steering knuckle so over time, rust will seal it in there. You can either use a slide hammer (some call it an axle puller) to tap it out. I just used a mini sledge and tapped on all four sides until it came out. Took me 3 hours to do both sides including relubing the brake caliper pins and BS time with a buddy.

As these guys said, pretty simple. Once the hub is off, be sure to clean the mounting surfaces with scotchbrite pads and make sure they are free of rust and corrosion.

I would recommend the Timken bearings that autozone sales. They cost alittle more but at my shop we have all kinds of problems with other brands but never with Timken bearings. Just an FYI.

Yep. The reason being it has the ABS reluctor inside the bearing assembly.

I lucked out and bought some Federal Mogul hubs from Travis (Black 02 WS6 TA on LS2.com) for $65 a piece. Worked out well for me.

I got 3 in the mail for the grand total of zero dollars, including shipping

Yup, someone had three sitting around off of cars hes parted out and he is sending all 3 to me, and if I can get a good one out of the three he says just refund his shipping...
