Default Tripometer keeps resetting itself

What would cause the trip meter on a 1999 camaro z28 to keep resetting itself? After every trip I shut the car off. When I restart the engine the trip meter is already back to zero miles. Anybody have an idea?

Mine did that for about a month, and then it never did it again, yet it wouldn't reset every time it would reset every morning.

Your battery is going bad. It still has enough ummph to start your car; but it can't keep your computer from resetting. Go to autozone and get you battery tested.

Known problem with '99s. Still have any warranty left? They had to replace the instrument cluster in my '99 for that problem. It was especially bad when it got cold... but what basically happens it that when the voltage gets below a certain point the trip odometer resets itself.

Wink

Get the battery tested/changed first. Then go after the guage cluster if the battery isn't the problem. ~Joshua
