Default stock alarm goes off by itself.....low battery??

today my 1998 formula was sitting in the driveway by itself when all of the sudden the stock alarm goes off. so I get my keys and hit the unlock button and it goes off. I locked it again and went back inside. About 2-3 minutes later it goes off again (keep in mind there is no one outside and no one home on most houses on my strret at this time of day). Could a low battery be causeing the alarm to be going off? After the second time I turned the key forward to the "on" position but didn't start the car...the battey voltage read a line or two under the 13volt mark....does that mean my battery is going out? Also it takes a few times to get my car started...could all of my problems be caused by a dying battery?

someone help..

Thanks

well they are basically a simple alarm. The keyless entry works as an alarm. If you lock the doors with the remote...then if anyone tries to open the doors or something.then the alarm goes off.

Try turning the sensitivity down on the shock sensor, if that doesn't work disconnect the sensor and see if it stops.

On my car the alarm was part of the "Preferred Equipment Group". Believe the RPO code is UA6 - Theft Deterrent System.

The shock sensor are bad for going out. the usual sign of it happening is the car alarm going off for no reason.

You can do as stated above or just replace it.

I had this happen before. The alarm would go off for any reason at all. 2-3 days later it was showing signs of a dying battery. I replaced the battery, and didn't have a problem after that.

Mine did that.. I screwed with the shock sensor it still did it. I disconnected the sensor and it still went off.. so I dissabled it completely so its just keyless entry only. No problems since. there are instructions on how to do it in the owners manual. Its a stupid combo of pull the radio fuse.. key on.. press this do that listen to chimes.. blah.. blah. Alarms are a waste anyhow. If a theif wants your car no alarm will stop them.
