Default painted rear, wtf? did i mess up?

well i got my rear from dls went to spray brake cleaner on it to get it clean.
the pait he used started to come off. ok well off to the parts store for some paint remover and som primer and paint. all made by duplicolor i got gray primer, gloss black, and they are all 500* temp rated.

i get the rest of the stuf he used off.

spray my primer on
then the black
notice that black isnt sticking, dam dident skuf up the primer.

go back to the store get another can of gloss black and a can of clear

sand off as much black as i could.

used a tack cloth get the dust off and lay down some black.

wtf its still not looking like its sticking, but it is....
its not looking smooth

so i put this next coat on thick and some spots are looking imo the way they should.

ok its a rear i can deal with some blemishes.

time for the clear. and wtf its making my rear look like speckeled gray.

i checked the cans and they all matched teh color code on teh cap.

what did i do?

i spent over $20 in paint but imo this looks like crap..
and i would like it to look one solid glossy color

what did i do?

Berger panel? paint gun? spray can? just trying to get the picture... I used spray paint for the CETA panel on my trans am, sanded, laqcuer thinner to clean it up, paint, first coat light, wait till tacky, second coat becoming darker still light(didn`t want runs) wait till tacky, repeat until satisfied, then clear if you want gloss(i wanted flat)

Where you using ALL Enamel paints, or did you get one of the products in Laquer? A Laquer paint product will of course lift up any Enamel paint that you are going over - makes the surface wrinkled...

You should have just gone with the POR15 comes in many colors (incl. Gloss Black) and once you put that down - it ain't coming off - you can pour solvents, gasoline, etc. over it and it will not damage the surface.

Brake Cleaner is a great solvent but it leaves a film of petroleum distillates that affect adhesion of the paint -- not sticking, speckling etc. After the Brake Cleaner, you should have scrubbed it down thoroughly with a good degreaser...(aka Wisk, Dawn dish washing liquid etc -- rinsing by itself WON'T cut it), rinsed and let it dry good before applying paint.

POR-15 ( POR-15 Depot ) kicks *** IMHO. Even if it is a multistep process: (1) clean & degrease, (2) Metal Prep primer & (3) POR-15 paint & sealer. I've used it on many suspension pieces and two years later it still looks like the day I painted it. You are going to pay a lot more than $20 though.

hosing it off isn't enough. water is polar. brake cleaner has non-polar petroluem in it. non-polar and polar do not mix. that's why you can't take off oil with water. you have to use dishwashing liquid or a strong degreaser. get the paint off with break cleaner, let it dry and scrub it down with HOT, SOAPY WATER. soap has both non-polar and polar heads so it gets off grease and dirt - that's the science behind soap. just hosing off break cleaner will NOT get the much of the brake cleaner off.
