Default Car takes a bit to finally start

This started a couple days ago out of nowhere. When I go to start the car, I turn the key and it just makes that 'starting' sound (not sure what its called) for anywhere from 5-10 seconds before it finally goes all the way and starts. After that, everything is fine.

But, when the car had only off for like 3 minutes when I go to start it again, it dosent take nearly that much time to actually start.

Any ideas? I can get a video of what it does because I dont know the exact terminology for the noises, so this all might be confusing.

It sounds like a miss fire pull the plugs and check the plug wires how many miles on them? one or the other they might be breaking down on you. If not it might be the ignition switch, if you dont have a programmer go down to autozone or something and use their code reader. Hope this helps

Changed both the plugs and wires 9k miles ago. I JUST replaced the ignition control module (for the second time in a year) but both times it went out the car wouldnt start all.

Does any one else think it might be the ingnition switch? I had some problems with the VATS awhile ago, and a few suggested the ignition switch for that as well, but I never did anything with it.

And Autozone cant read anything on my car. Damn OBDI.

read up on my basic troubleshooting post....i cant remember all thats in there...but you could be looking, several things, usually if the car starts right back up, it wont be a electrical problem because it would do the same thing over and over again....unless theres a short somewhere

Check your fuel pressure, sounds like you have a fuel pump on the way out.

or the regulator.

when i bought my car it had hard starting problems, i checked the wires, then picked on the regulator before the pump and it solved it. car starts in 1 crank now.
