Lots of threads about low oil pressure, not too many about high oil pressure...

Has it always done this, or is it recent?

You may well have got some gasket material from the swap that got into the inner workings and is obstructing an oil passage.

....or you may have damaged the oil pressure sending unit when you swapped intakes.

Whe you say PCV delete, what exactly do you mean? Are you using a breather on the valvecover now?

Maybe the new sending unit is not reading properly?

you could have several things.....added just a bit to much oil, filter might have some crap in it or be jammed, etc etc

My buddy replaced his with a borg/warner sending unit and his pressure is exactly like yours. The car still runs the same. I think its the sending unit. Im about to change mine out because its jumping around all over the place.

Many people on this forum would love to have your problem.

What does your pressure read with just the ignition on? That should rule out the sending unit as the source of the problem.

Probably just the difference in accuracy of the sending units. One being more or less accurate than the other.

A friend of mine just picked up a '98 Vette and one night we met up so I could check it out, and the very first thing I notice is his oil pressure was pegged at 80 at idle. He checked the digital computer readout and it said something like 119! Mine is like 50 at idle I think. Still not sure why his is doing that.

I'd seriously have that looked at due to the fact he just purchased the vehicle and it may be a dealer or previous owner's attempt to mask something wrong with the car.

If in doubt get a manual oil pressure unit and install it.

Turning the key to "On" will not tell you if it is a bad sending unit since there is no pressure unless the car is running.

Either swap the sending unit out with w known working unit or replace it again. I have seen them be bad right out of the box new.
