how bulletproof is my T-56
i have as ws6 with 90,000 miles.
I got it with 88,000 but im not sure if he launched the **** out of it but he was an old man so i doubt it.
Also..I raced a couple of times and missed a gear and the whole car started bogging out like CRAAzy.. im just curious if the t-56 can handle hard launches and sometimes missing gears..
my car is stock btw.

Since your car is a 97 i'd say its not really bullet proof. It can handle what your motor puts out + some... but I'd kinda layoff killin it... you might be putting a new one in there.

Im sure if i shot it with 50 Cal it would get a hole in it
Anyway the tranny can handle launches and some missed gears, even if it is the T56 in the Lt1's. They are pretty damn strong. Worry about the rear end before the tranny.

it's all in the driver. If you just can't drive stick then snap goes the internals. "Properly used" the power of the car will likely snap the 10-bolt first, the driveshaft second, or the stock clutch will slip. There's plenty of other stuff to take up the slack and break under repeated launches first before the T-56.

Well the LT1 Trannies were made by Borg Warner, which had a torque rating of 450 ft/lbs, supposedly the Tremecs aren't rated as good, don't know the exact specs. I have heard the Tremec (LS1) T56's aren't as strong as well. Doesn't mean the BW one is awesome just better supposedly. Kind of like the earlier Muncie's and ST-10's and Saginaws. All different

My daily driver '94 has 147k now, but clutch is about toast. Slips occasionally at starts and in high gear on interstate. Planning on replacing it next week. Trannie seems okay mostly. Non-posi rear end. Stock gears. Pro 5.0 shifter.
