Default Pennies in my Engine! VIDEO...

I recently noticed a noise coming from my valvetrain that sounds like a penny being shaken in a glass bottle. The car doesnt have any problems running besides somtimes it takes two tries to startup or i gotta prime the fuel pump twice, which i believe is probably something in the fuel lines. This is the second motor in the car (or so i was told by the previous owner) so I have no idea how many miles are on it. It has 918 blue striped springs.

Hopefully someone knows what this is...

EDIT: The noise only comes from the passenger side of the engine

If you haven't pulled the valve covers, do so and see what's going on. That would freak me the hell out, that's for sure.

I remember someone posting this pic a few weeks ago. Anyways here's an example of a broken spring. (2nd spring from the left)

Also try looking for a broken rocker arm, or excessive valve lash (rocker arm slop between the valve stem and the rocker arm) which would indicate a bent push rod. Or even better if you still cannot find anything pull the rocker arms off, take out all of the push rods and roll them on a flat surface to see if any are bent. Hope it helps

sounds to me like you have a loose retainer or you lost a lock leaving the retainer loose and the lock inside the spring rattling.

Sounds like the a/c compressor clutch dragging. Does it do it with the a/c running? It should go away ith the a/c running. Or it sounds like a loose bearing in a tensioner pulley.
I would suspect a valvetrain problem to have more of a tapping especially a broken spring.
