Default over heating car

I've been driving around with the "low coolant level" light turning on and off for a few thousand miles, but my coolant level is normal. Even had a flush this year at pepboys.

Tonight my engine started overheating! it went from the normal 205-ish to 260. I quickly turned the car off. you guys got any ideas on what could be going on?

I got the 99Z A4

water pump going bad and not circulating the fluid or thermo is locked up would be my guesses. Check to see if stuff is leaking on the ground after you park your car for a while. You are looking for orange fluid.

I would just go ahead and replace them both and see if that fixes it. Very easy to fix yourself and it'll only take like an hour or two. How many miles do you have?
