Default proper way to gap plugs?

Is there a certain tool used to gap spark plugs? Needlenose pliers? I want to gap my tr55s but don't want to damage anything. Proper place to gap it? thanks for the tips.

You can pick up a gap gauge at autozone. Or buy a feeler gauge set and use those

I've heard anywhere from .035 to .050 is good for an ls1.

If you go to autozone or any parts store they will gap it at what you want for you in the store.

DON'T ADJUST THE GAP ON PLATINUM PLUGS ie: DAMAGE TO THE COATING WILL CAUSE PREMATURE FAILURE. CHECK GAP AND IF NOT IN SPEC RETURN IT. IT WILL SAVE YOU A MISFIRE CODE THAT YOU CAN'T HUNT DOWN.
I USUALLY SHOOT FOR .045 ON THE GAP.

I use the spark plug gap tool from Jacobs Electronics. I bought it years ago from Summit and it have never given me any problems.

You can gap platinum plugs. You just cant use the round keychain looking gappers. Shoving that thing in there can risk breaking off the platinum tip. Get the gapping tool that allows you to pry the tip up or down and slide in the the little gap you want to measure.

I can attest to platinum plugs coming gapped at all different numbers from the factory.

I'd check the internal engine section for the specs. As for what they come in from the parts store, the range of my set of 8 was .010. This further necessitates the need to at least check the gap regardless of what they are said to be at.

Id just get TR6's and set em at .045. I run 6's on my bolt on car @.038 since I use nitrous(not very often though anymore) and they idle and drive fine. Since you have the extra power of the cam i would just go with the tr6's.
