Real men take it out the top!!! Without access to a lift i was forced to take my motor out of the top of the car. I posted a thread a few months earlier asking if it could be done and some YAHOO told me it would take over 24 hours to complete. Well 8 1/2 hours later it was done, now all i have to do is get it back in.....

getting it out is the easy part.. getting it in can be a pain. I put mine in in less than 30 mins though no lift.... i was excited and in a hurry.
..but It took me 5 hrs to get my other friend's in motor WITH a lift.

No lift...No problem. Use that engine hoist to lift the car off the k-member. It doesn't get any easier. Pros: leave all of those accessories on the engine except power steering, and AC. Don't touch the radiator. Just disconnect the wiring, driveshaft, strut tower bolts, loosen k-member bolts, brakelines, fuel lines radiator lines. Then lift the car up, remove the wheels, ease the car down until the k-member is on some sort of roller cart, remove k-member bolts (6), raise the chassis off the engine, roll the engine out from under the car and you're done!
