Default power steering leak, again...wtf?

Guys,

I just put a rack on my car from a member on here and the damn thing is leaking again and its leaking from where the steering shaft goes into the rack. I really dont want to **** more money away on this pos power steering. Are there any kind of torque specs for the large nut on the steering rack? I just wonder if it may be over or under torqued and is causing the pinion to be at an angle where fluid can leak out. If you guys have any ideas, please let me know. I am so fed up with this BS right now and I sure as hell dont want to drop $500 on a new rack and then another $60 on an alignment.

no ideas? there is a very slow seep out of it, enough that after a little while a few drops will come out, but it seems like if I park it with the wheels turned it leaks even more.

did you change the ps pump when you changed the rack?

No because the pump is brand new. Why would that matter if it was leaking at the rack anyway?

Put some stop leak in it, see if that works.
OTOH, that sometimes is the breaks when you install used equipment.

well if its not the pump that was on the car when the last rack was switched, it wont matter....but like i said when racks go out, they tend to shave metal off...which tends to get recirculated back in the ps pump..and then someone puts a new rack on and contaminates that one....

Yeah I am going to try that out, I know there is some kind of risk with used parts but the member on here told me it was leak free and it definitely is not.

I am in contact with him and he seems to be understanding and is working with me. I am going to try the stop leak, at least get it to slow down. Then I will just save the money for a new one with a warranty on it so I dont have to worry, although its wasted alignment money.
