Default oil pressures

I noticed my oil pressure dropped to halfway between the 40 and the first line on the factory gauge. I don't know if that is 30 or what. I haven't seen it go back that far before. I was sitting in line for 15 minutes after driving on the hwy for 30 minutes. Is this okay to go back that far?

We need a little more info...mileage, year, oil/filter you run? Is it maintained properly? Not trying to be evasive, just looking for some clues.

I just started using 5W-40 Amsoil about 1 month ago. Filter is AC Delco. Mileage is 53,000 miles on a 99 Z28. I am very picky with maintenance being done. The most I ever saw the M1 10-30 I was running go back to was a little back from the 40. Is the mark between 40 and the first line like 30 or so? It is around 50 cold at idle. This low oil pressure came up when at idle in drive after sitting in line for awhile.

How low is okay on these cars? I was told by alot of people using this oil that their oil pressures were a little higher. Mine have been about the same. I may just be OCD watching the gauges.

You are worrying too much. 5-10 psi per 1000 RPM's is all an engines really needs. Relax and enjoy your car.

see this is the madness that should stop.....no lsx type motor will run for any amount of time on 5-10 psi.....

i dont know what SBC type old chevy motor you might be thinking about...BUT ITS NOT A LSX.....A4 cars idle at or around 500rpms....so what your saying is 2.5-5 psi would be fine for a A4 car? ******* retarded and im tired of people saying...this is the internet, but giving wrong information to people and leading them to believe misinformation is wrong....

ask any gm master tech...lsx type engineer...or, lsx type performance shop that actually knows anything....and they will wonder what your smoking when you state that.....i worked for one for 4 years.....
