Long oil filter?

Long oil filter?
Do you guys think it's a good idea to use the longer 6.0L oil filter on a stock cubed LS1 car? Why?
I see guys saying they like the added capacity, but I'm not sure I like it sticking down below the oil pan where it's exposed just in case I'd accidentally hit something.

For one thing most do not fall below the oil pan. The one that does is the K&N and it is only the nut on the bottom that is a bit lower than the oil pan.
Also, trust me when I say that if you bottom out enough to break off your oil filter that will be the least of your worries.
I do not think the capiacity of the filter matters that much but I like the increase in filter area of the larger filter.

I've been using the longer K&N hp2006 for almost 2 years with no problems. My exhaust is the only thing that's ever scraped, and my car is lowered. You don't need to worry unless you're offroading with your car.

The Mobil1 long filter I show as M1-206. The K&N long filter is 2006.
But even without the larger filter there have been a great multitude of folks here that use a full six quart change will no ill effects. 1/2 quart is going to kill anything.
