Exclamation Need Help!!! Oil Question????

Hello all, I took my car in to get the oil changed yesterday and today when I was looking at the Oil Wt. it said 5-30. I'm almost positive they had been putting 10-30 into my car. My first question is which weight should I use in the car? The second is whether or not this is going to hurt the car, if it is the wrong oil? Should I take it back to get the right stuff put in? Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Both the 10W30 and the 5W30 are listed as acceptable by GM for the LS1 in your owner's manual. 5W30 was the factory fill.

Personally, I don't use either of those in my LS1 though. I prefer M1 0W40.

Thanks a lot. I wasn't sure if it was that big of a deal or not. Thanks again!

dont wanna hijack this thread or anything but whats your average temperature in your area? I've heard of a lot of guys running mobil 0w40, but i live in upstate NY and was wondering what the temp ratings of that oil are.

My LS1 is in storage in the winter, so it really only sees temps in the 40-90 degree range in the spring/summer/fall. I've been very happy with the results.

But being that it's a "0" weight at cold startup, it should do well in the winter as well.
