Default Oil Puddle under the car....

Honestly, I dont know if this is in the right section but I'll give it a shot because I know alot of knowledgable people frequent this one.

Bought some new parts for the cars for the car. Went to put the new clutch in last week, pulled the tranny and reach for the bellhousing and realized that there was oil puddled in it.

Turns out the rear main seal was leaking. Anyway, replaced it, got the new flywheel, clutch, tranny and bellhousing back on. Didnt put the driveshaft on yet, was waiting til after I did the new 12 bolt.

So I went out tonight to start dropping the suspension to put the 12 bolt on. Saw a small puddle of oil under the trans. Looks like its leaking from where it bolts up to the bellhousing. Puddle isnt big, but its definately noticable and its a new puddle, wasnt there the other day.

Go to check it out, and its oil, only it looks and smells burnt. After we put the new seal in, I put 5.5 quarts of new synthetic in the motor, and since then it hasnt been moved or even cranked.

What I'm wondering is where this burnt oil is coming from? I washed the bellhousing out before I put it back on.

Whats going on here, where is this oil coming from?
