Default cat killing misfire at low revs

what are some possible causes of the flashing SES light? how can i find out for sure? will the autozone scanner tell me or am i gonna have to shell out the cash for the big boy scanner session?

Get them to scan it for you first - hopefully it'll identify which cyl it is and not just P0300.

Plugged cat.

I would check the plug wires first though..

If you do not have the right tools take it to a shop. You will spend a fortune throwing parts at it based off of an internet diagnosis.
