Default Rear-end oil change/site suggestion

Which oil do you guys use for the rear-end.

I got a chilton's so the how-to should be covered but wouldn't it be great if there was a sticky for "How to service _____?"

Like for engine oil, clutch, tranny, rear end, ac, ect?

I used the GM recommended 80w90 conventional oil + GM LSD additive for my '98 diff. Seems to work fine so I stick with it.

For your '00 rear, GM manual calls for 75w90 synthetic with GM LSD additive.

I don't think you need lsd additive with a 2000 if it has a torsen diff. I have done it with and without, because nobody knew for sure. The manual say to use it. I don't, but do use mobil 1 synth. 75w-90.

I would use it. It's only like $7 at a dealership. Wouldn't it be better to play it safe the first time then have to do it twice and use even more oil?

I used Redline 75w90 if I'm remembering correctly. I know it was definately Redline synthetic.

I used 75w90 from castorl that i found in good supply at my nearest auto store, worked fine. I also put in some of that additive and had no gear whine (very little before the change).
