Default Royal Purple or Mobil 1 synthetic?

I had always run Mobil 1 and know it's a quality product, but after doing some research, it seems Royal Purple is designed for the racing enthusiast in mind. I know dyno numbers can be misleading, but the recent test on the 350z on Prostreetonline did seem to be credible. Any opinions on this? Patman?
Thanks! They're also both the same price around here.

If they're the same price, I'd go with Royal Purple.

I think they are the same quality..... Just get mobil 1.
But like someone mentioned. If the royal purple is available at your convenient store, I'd get royal purple.

their really isnt a big difference in brands. one thing cool about being involved with the stocks and stock market and such you tend to find out alot of companies go through the same sub companies to have things manufactured. and engine oils and the such are no different. i could run walmart brand for 4000 miles or mobil 1 or castrol or valvolin ect ect. and the oil will look the exact same and function the same. only time any oils are different is say like mobil 1 extended. it just has more additives to help it last longer. but their are drawbacks to this aswell. when it comes down do what is the best 5w-30 or whatever. their is no best. a 0w-30 ofcourse will let an engine run better but if say penzoil came out with a 0w-30 or mobil 1 or mcdonalds came out with a 0w-30 synthetic. They would all be the exact same. so just get what is the cheapest and dont purchase by brand name purchace by what you need for an oil. dont fall for marketing.

Yea, but I thought people were running another weight. I will either try it or the Royal Purple next.

im runnin royal purple, im switching back to mobil 1. i noticed that royal purple gets to thin when the motor is completly warm, and i also get lower oil pressure because of it thining out. also i burn quite a bit more oil with royal purple then i did when i had mobil 1.

Neither. Use something like Pennzoil Platinum or non-GC Castrol.

Break out of the RPvsM1 box. The air is breathable out here...you'll be ok.

30w is a 30w is a 30w at operating temp. They are all within the 30w range or they would be call 20w or 40w. DeeDeeDee...

Oil pressure is not what delivers oil to the bearings nor is it what cools hot parts...Oil FLOW does.

Thinner oil = more flow = less oil pressure.

To the point, that is, where it's actually too thin regardless of the increased flow. But I don't recall having ever seen that quantified by anybody via a used oil analysis.

he hit the nail on the head. This site is a joke when it comes to oil, all everyone buys oil on is the oil pressure which is retarded, buy your oil on its lubrication properties, not pressure.

Somewhere, somebody is using 15w-50 or the like in the winter and thinking he's really doing his car some good by having his oil pressure off the scale. No flow, mind you, but pressure out the yingyang.

Oh, yeah...and lighter weight oils have no "cling."
