yes its condinsation it happens to other cars aswell as my car. if you have that on your dipstick it would be a problem ie head gasket. but condesation does seem to build up under the oil cap i cant tell you why i have no anwser for that but it is common i have seen a lot of cars come thru the stealership i work at with a yellowish film on the bottom of the oil fill cap mostly 3.8v6 and ls based motors

this happens if you live in colder areas, and you make a lot of short trips, where your engine doesn't get up to operating temps. this is normal and you should just clean it out when you change the oil. If you are seeing this in the middle of summer, also check the dipstick to see if there is anything on that one or rust as it could mean a headgasket.

Common in most cars, not just LS1's. Moisture and condensation from temperature changes in the air outside. That's why I'm not a big fan of tracking the mileage between oil changes. I change mine every time the seasons change. Just did the spring change.

humidity can also cause condisation to form under the oil cap as well as frost or just making short trips in your car as never letting it reach operating temp.
