Default high rpm popping lt1

I have a 94 lt1 formula, and recently I will hear a repeditive popping noise at 4k rpm and above. it also seems to fall on its face a little, but it dosent always "pop". it will only do this under load.

Sounds like it's time to replace the opti. How many miles do you have on it?

the car has 160000 miles on it, i am going to try and replace the plug wires first, a long time mechanic rode with me and said it was more like cross firing and not pinging or detonation.

Well if that still has the stock opti on it, I'm surprised it lasted that long. The wires won't help gurantee, you need to replace that opti.
