The gap will depend on which plugs you plan to run. Some require a different gap than others, even for a stock motor. Something like an NGK TR55 should be gapped at .050 to .060 for a stock LS1, but an AC Delco Iridium should have an .040 gap.

TR55's @ .055 (if you're stock)

If you're modded some (bolt on's) .050

If you got H/C setup .045-.050

Every spark plug you buy needs to be re-gapped. Some of the TR55's I've bought (even though they're suppose to be @.060) were way over that. It doesn't matter if they are copper, platinum, etc. etc....check the gaps before hand, then gap them to what ever you want them at.

When I was cam only, I had them gapped between .050-.052....car seemed to run great.

Sorry to pop thi back up im sure you have already made your choice, but gap on an ls1 im super sure about but for a bolt on car that you are going to be pushing alittle harder i would run .040-.050 . And for the reason i actually posted You want strait up tr55's no gold ot platnum or iridium. You want strait copper. Yes they wear out alittle fast but they hold a ton less residual heat. And they cost 1/3rd the price.

I use the copper tr55's. runs great at a .050 gap w/bolt-ons, no problems at all.
