Default 91 Z-28 5.0 Running rich at idle

I have it in the shop right now. It fouls out the plugs in 500 miles. Throws no codes. All 8 plugs are fouled. Changed almost every sensor. The Mechanic has checked every sensor and is testing ok. He has found 3 injectors on the tuned port that have low resistance. They are $130 apiece from GM. Seems to me that 3 injectors could not mess up all 8 cylinders. Seems to me that the O/2 sensor would throw a code if it were running rich. He is going to try the injectors as soon as they come in.

I see advertised on the internet rebuilt injects for around $40 apiece. Is this a good way to go. This repair is getting over $1000 since the car had a few other problems.

I personally think the computor is the problem. It starts good and runs good on the highway. But at an idle your eyes will water from how rich it runs. The mechanic checked and the computor and Eprom are the right ones for my car.

The only real modification, is that the fomrmer owner took off the catalitic convertor. The O/2 sensor is in the exhast manifold on the driver side , so it should not affect it any.

First of all you might want to post this in the right forum, and 2nd, what does the poll have to do with your post/question?

First time here and not sure what forum is best, since there are so many forums choices. Recommend one and I will move it there.

It is tuned port with 8 injectors. Changed EGR, O/2, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap and rotor, plug wires, idle speed control, plugs twice. Mechanic thinks injectors. 8 new injectors are over $1000. yiks!

I have a 91 l98 350. I went through almost the same thing. Idle surge, fouled plugs, rough at part throttle.
I replaced cap rotor plug wires coil and plugs, then 02 sensor, egr temp sensor.
egr valve. did the intake with the egr it needed it.
now... the car has 180000 miles on it and it did sort of need all that stuff. anyway.I work at a gm dealer and after about the 3rd tune up tech. I took it to another dealer and had Calvin a tech I respect look at it. I got a call from the writer and he told me $2000 needs injectors.
I thought they were trying to blow me out with a high estimate.
Ok. crow eating time.
I should have just changed the injectors. 4 of them had about 12 ohms.
now the way it was told to me, on an l98 one bad injector really screws things up. The ecm trys to balance the fuel on all the injectors to cover the bad ones.
I thought about bosch injectors off a ford, about 250 for a set. They are too short. yes they'll work but I did'nt want to risk a fuel leak on the intake and fire.
I got a used set on ebay, three bad ones in the bunch. Even with an emploee discount I just couldnt bring myself to step up to $90 each.
I finaly stepped up replaced them all,8 new ones no more mix and match.
car runs better than it ever has now.
I have about 12000 miles on them and it runs great, starts great and has much more power than before.
If your mechanic says 3 are bad, replace the whole set. Save yourself some trouble and 5 sets of plenum gaskets.
word is they last about 70000 miles. I got 180000 out of mine but I could have saved months in the shop, stalling on the freeway and techs who ran when they saw my car.
good luck
