low idle??

Default low idle??

my 99 z28 started to idle very low recently (400-500). Oil pressure drops, the lights dim etc... anyone have a clue whats going on????

A good start would be to check your battery condition, connections and the charging system.

What has changed? Are you using the same gas, did you do anything under the hood, etc. Two things control idle, the stop on the TB and the motor and cable on the right fender. Check those too.

The lights dimming etc. is because of the low RPM.

Pull the IAC valve off the TB and clean it with carb cleaner.

Tha Iac doesnt usually cause a low idle. It will cause a step in idle or a high idle if its sticking. It wouldnt however just idle low period. And the flux of the lights definatly points to a power source or ground problem.

When ever I've had a problem with low idle or wouldn't hold an idle it was a dirty IAC.

If it wont hold idle i would agree. Im not saying you are wronge just not what i have seen. But like i always say i have an lt1 wtf would i know?
