Backfiring and rich startup??

Backfiring and rich startup?? I just finished my install, ls1 in my 93 rx7. ls6 heads/intake, decent cam, yadda yadda... When i try to start it sometimes it back fires and makes a whine noise almost sounding like an out of tune instrument. Then when it fires up the car runs great. idles fine, drives nice, no breakup, no stalling.. anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the startup issue?
