Default **** WERIDDD sound from my ls1!!!

my car is a 2000 z 28 m6 convert with about 40,000 miles. The car is in great shape and when i got it with 28,000 miles it was rarly driven. Every now and then when i start the car the motor makes a very strange "flying saucer" noise ( from what friends say). As soon as i rev the engine just a bit the noise goes away still then comes back when its at idle. It does not sound like a belt and its not a cracking noise. it has only done this a few times but its really strange lol. What do u guys think? i am CLUELESS haha

I have a similar noise. From reading other posts I belive it to be one of the idler pulleys. I've replaced the tensioner and now I will be replacing the idler pulley down near the alternator. Good luck.

I think I've replaced my upper idler pulley at least 2 times since I've had my 'hawk... it seems they last like 1.5 years.... are the lower A/C idler pulley's the same part?

Not sure if it applies to 00, but my 98 has an Idle Air Contoller motor that that sounds like a whirring servo motor when it moves. But, it'd not constant, it comes and goes while at idle.

yeah mine only does it like once every two months or so. If the car has been sitting in the heat for a while it will do it. Should i replace all the belts?

Mine does it too. I can hear it coming from the engine bay and out of the exhaust. I've been told it might be a clogged AIR pump or something like that. Let me know if you find out what causes it.
