Default How To Distinguish Diff. Engine Noise

i have a slight tick to my ls1... it is the loudest when i first start it up... i rev it just a little it goes away for about 30 sec. then comes back. if i drive it a little and it gets to operating temp it goes away untill you let it idle for a while.... is this something to worry about... the car has 47000 miles and is an A4 Ws6

Hard to tell for sure without hearing it, but I will say that some of these motors are noisy. My Formula's stock LS1 had a tick all it's life, never cause an issue.
