Default Does this sound like a Transmission mount?

I was able to use the search just one time, then it stopped working.

A couple weeks ago I noticed a faint thud/clunk. It only occured when starting from a dead stop. I thought maybe something was just shifting in the trunk. But I've been paying more attention to it, and it feels like it is kinda right under me. I'm pretty sure it's not all the way in the back, it's more like right under my butt.
I'm at 90K miles, so I'm thinking trans mount.

should feel more like towards the center console area, but yeah it sounds like a tranny mount, buy yourself a polly mount and be done with it, cheap too.

Under the center console is a very accurate description. That's exactly where I feel it.
Polly will make it stiff, right? I don't think I want that cuz my 1-2 shift is very, very firm.

i have a trans go shift kit in mine,(hard shifts) and the polly mount from energy suspensions think like$30 bucks will not hurt the way it drives, do the motor mounts as well, they help lots with vibrations too and will last you a long time...

Thanks, guys. I've seen some install guides, but they were all for M6's. It should be pretty much the same for an A4, I think.

Hey this Kyle@RevXtreme, it definently sounds like you have a busted tranny mount. It is an easy fix maybe 15-30 min.

sup Kyle! Its been a long time........
I wanted to go with a stocker, but Advance stopped carrying them. From what I hear, the dealership charges way too much. I can get a poly from BMR for $30, but I didn't want to be that stiff.
Maybe you can find me a stocker and I'll pick it up from you.

Could be the torque arm bushing. Mine's making that very same thunk sound.

I thought of that but I have a BMR torque arm with a poly bushing that's only a couple years old. Besides, the "clunk" isn't quite that far forward.

I decided to stop dickin around anyway..........I just ordered myself a poly tranny mount.

I replaced my badly torn mount today with a poly one from Energy Suspension.
But I had to drop the tranny support to get to it. In the process of putting it all back together, one of the bolts for the transmission support broke. Actually it was not the bolt, but the nut that is inside. It will come out OK, but when I tighten it, I can get it down hand-tight, and then about a quarter turn with the socket, before it starts spinning.
I'm pretty sure it ain't going anywhere and it will be OK, but just thought I'd ask you guys about it.
I'm gonna post this in the Transmission forum, too.
