Lightbulb Daytime Running Lights went out!?...

one day i my left daytime lamp went out. than about 2 weeks later the other one went. so now i gotta change both of them. no big deal.

i bought new bulbs and they both dont work? did i blow a daytime running lamp fuse or something? did i get a short?

the sockets look like new still. not burnt at all.

If water got into the housings it could have blown a fuse or corroded the socket not allowing a connection.

You don't have to have your DRL and you can keep your blinkers.

Is there any other way to get rid of the DRL's for those of us who can't solder?

Pull your E-brake lever up to the very first notch, the DRL should stay off and the blinkers should still work. But the "Brake" light will be on in the guage cluster. But than if you really want to, you can pull the cluster out and remove the bulb.

Soldering is childs play man, anyone can do it without ever having been taught how.

Oh, someone told me once before that you can snip one of the 3 wires going to each socket, but I don;t know which one.

Does the e-brake trick work on A4's? I'd like to just cut a wire but everything I've seen takes the soldering path.

The ebrake switch controls the DRLs, and if your DRLS dont work it might be the parking brake switch is broken, but if they burned out one after another probably not the problem in yoru case.
