Default a/c issues

Is there a troubleshooting guide for the A/C?

Right now my a/c is blowing hot air.....Set it to heat, nice and toasty. Set it to cold, it doesn't get cold.

I tried to recharge it, but I dont think the compressor is turning on. How can I short it so that it always runs?

Also, where is the "orifice tube"? I have no idea where it is.

any other thoughts?

you can jump the low pressure swith located on the reciever drier to see if your compressor clutch is working. also make sure your fans are turning on when you turn the a/c switch on. You should also check your vacuum hoses in the back of the motor to make sure their hooked up.if their not then the heater box doors are not opening and closing.the oriface tube is located in the condensor tube but thatshould not be a problem unless your compressor has come apart inside.

The system is designed to turn the clutch on when the pressure from the recharge cannister builds up enough pressure in the system. You need to track down why the clutch is not locking.
It is very easy to check whether or not it is locking; the clutch (the inside part) will click and then turn at the same rate as the pulley (the outside part).

So if it starts clicking......starting and stopping......and starts leaking something.....and starts emitting fumes.........thats bad, right?
