I fixed something and another thing broke
Well to start things off, for a long time now my headlight motor has bveen dead causing me to manually raise the headlight(alot of fun). well i went on ebay and bought a used one for $85. it is installed and works great. So Wednesday I got paid and went to buy brakes for my car(35.00) whcih is alot of money to a 17 year old. well i was putting them on and i go alittle to forceful with the wrench and broke on bolt off. I managed to get it out , but i now have to buy a new one. Can these be bought at any auto place or do i have to order them ? Thanks Jamie

I'm guessing this was a caliper bolt? You could take whats left of the broken bolt to your local parts store and ask if they have a replacement... Ace Hardware has a large selection of bolts. Most caliper bolts have a "shoulder" to them, which is essentially a washer molded onto the head of the bolt.

lol well i went and got a bolt the fit , however it was not the correct bolt. after buying the bolt i came home and tried to put the new pads in..... well luck would have it they did not fit. is there some special way of doing this or did the guy at autozone give me the wrong brakes. well i had to use my car and therefore i put the old pads in. i think the did not fit right becasue i am hearing a sound as thought the are slipping. oh and my headlight motor is not working like it should.

You sure you got the caliper piston compressed all the way before you put the new pads in? It can be a pain in the *** to get it, but if it's not all the way in the new pads simply won't fit.

Did you compress the piston in the caliper? If you put you old brake pads back on without a bolt holding the caliper, because it was the wrong one. Then the caliper may be moving when it isn't suppose to. Causing this noise?
