Question Spring in floorboard.....Help

Alright well I was playing around with a blue z28 saturday and after I got done running him 3 times I felt something under my foot, I reached down and grabbed it and it was a spring, a pretty heavy duty one. I think I found where it came from(on the gas pedal where it has a shaft for the pivot point). My pedal seems to be softer but doesnt stick anywhere. Should I replace it? Has anyone else had this problem? Its a coil looking spring with a tab on each end and one of the tabs is broken off, Its about the size of 10 gauge wire I guess. Any suggestions?

Are you sure it's off the gas pedal and not off the clutch pedal? That has a return spring.

Could be from the clutch but It doesnt seem any different, I havnt had anyproblem with it not returning. I'll look but if I was missing that spring would it stay on the floor?

No the pedal would not stay on the floor. Mine did the same thing. It was the clutch pedal return spring.

Did you replace it? Or just run with it?

It's your clutch return spring. Don't worry about it, it'll just break again if you replace it and it's not necessary.

Mine broke under warranty, the tech replaced it outside the service bay in about 10 minutes. They said there would be no ill effects without the spring.
