+1 on this. They won't charge much.
I had my 89 broke into and replaced the window myself. Cut the crap out of myself getting the old broken window out. I won't do it myself again.

Sorry to hear that man. Somebody broke my driver's side window and stole my radar detector, I got a new window put in and re-tinted for 170. The window cost 140 and the tint was 30.

Man I hate hearing about this stuff. Makes me sick. Makes you wish you could of caught them in the act when you have your pistol ready. Then all you would have to worry about is getting the blood stains out of your car. Or you cuold just leave the blood stains as a trophy and a warning to all of the other theaves. Hmmm

That sucks man.
I have had pretty much every car I have owned broken into and it never stops me from keeping expensive stuff in my car. I always hide what I can when the car is left somewhere.
Im about to put a double din dvd in my car next month, im sure it wont take long for some *** to see it.
My windows are tinted 15% so I hope that helps. My home is under surveillance but I just have to worry when I park it away from here.
I am actually thinking about taking the stock stereos face off and modifying it to where it could cover the front of my dvd player when the car is parked.
The face will be attached to a flat black cover and it would attach to the sides of the stock radio bezel with velcro.
When this is done im sure no one will break in to steal a stock cassette stereo.

ugggh.. that sucks.. I've had both my previous Camaro's broken into the exact same way! I took the door panel apart myself, pulled out all the seats, and used a vacuum to clean out all the glass on both occasions and used a glass company that comes to the car to change the glass.

That sucks dude. My best friend had the same thing happen to his 350z. His driver side window motor was dead and they said 'Hey, they must have broken your window motor also so we replaced it'. I guess it worked out in his favor.

if you have a receipt for the dvd player then the damage should be over 500 since you said the dvd player cost over $500. and the window would be another 150-200. with that high of a comprehensive deductible your f*cked. after my old car was broken into I lowered my to $100 so I wouldn't be screwed if something happend

Happened to me last year. They got my Alpine 9856 h/u and did $650.00 of estimated damage on top of the h/u cost!! I had to shop around A LOT to find a decently priced side window (some were more than the damned WINDSHIELD!!!). I also had the $500.00 deductable, so I was f'in PISSED!!
Now I NEVER leave the faceplate attached/in the car, even when I am just going into a place for a couple minutes!! At night, I park with NOTHING in the car, the empty glove box and console storage open, and the doors unlocked!!!! But the stupid F*** crackheads will probably just break the window anyway, instead of trying the door first!!!

Did insurance cover your alpine head unit??? Cause I dont have a receipt or anything for my head unit. All I have is the media module left and information about the head unit. Thats it, no manuals or anything.

Yeah, it happened with tint anyways. It still got stuck to the backing just like you mentioned also but still. U think insurance will be able to cover my head unit, even though I dont have a receipt?? Cause I bought the head unit from a friend.
