Default seafoaming question

yea i went to seafoam my 01 t/a and when i pulled the brake booster vaccum hose it didnt rev up to like 2000 or 3000 rpm like it said in the write up it actully was idealing low and was seeming like it was about to stall out my engine so i stopped right there and didnt do it why is that it didnt rev up high like that?

When I did mine any time I would try to disconnect the booster line the engine would die instantly. I had to use a pair of vise grips (with some cardboard to protect the rubber hose) to hold it almost completely shut so the engine wouldn't stall, the small opening was still enough to feed the Seafoam in. Hope this helps.

just regulate it from stalling with the tip of your thumb. you're fine to pour some in.

I have the car off, and pull off the booster, hold the cup of seafoam underneath, turn on the engine, it sucks it all up and kills it. Replace the booster, wait 5 mins.. start it up (might need a lil gassing) and enjoy the smoke

I am also interested to see if their are any drawbacks to using it high mileage cars. I want to use it on my dads work truck with about 130k, will the removeing of the carbon build up on the vales and such cause problems, since the valves have been sealing on the carbon etc..
Any commnet would be great since i really want to do it just sacred of the consequences. Thanks.

yeah, typically a huge vacuum leak will make the car die. just put ur finger over the hose while its disconnected from the booster and pull ur finger away to suck in the seafoam.

Sounds like some people think it is iffy at high miles because of the possibility of dislodging enough junk to cause problems. I don't think anyone could tell you for sure one way or the other, I would just use your best judgement. Personally, I think the benifits outweigh the potential problems, but it's your car. Make sure you have read and understand the writeup on how to use it first.
