Default Spark Plug And Cables Recommendations!!!!

Well i've had my Z for about 3 months now and I don't know when it had a tune up so i'm planning on doing it myself this week...What type of spark plugs, cables and O2 sensors do you guys recommend? any specific brands or shops I should buy or buy from? How about motor oil?? Mobil 1 synthetic or Valvoline?? I'm new to the LS1 engine and would like to get it performing at its best. Thanks

I don't know if the "search" is functioning, but I would use it. Personally, I use NGK TR6s, GMPP wires and Bosch O2s.

Default fav stuff

I like the MSD wires, NGK plugs, and the long Corvette o2 sensors, it eliminates the extensions. Use the search to find the part # for the sensors, they are a better quality sensor that heats if I remember right to a hotter temp and run cleaner and last a bit longer. This seems like what I remember about them. (Someone correct me if I fudged that)

I'm about to hit 99K miles...Someone at LS1.com recommended the NGK TR55s..found the TR55-IX on sale at a local parts shop so i'll be getting those...he also recommended the MSD wires and the O2's from bosch, said the O2 sensors part # was 13111 for bosch. But he asked if I was sure that I needed the O2's since they are quite pricey...Do you guys think I need to replace them?? My Z was completely stock when I got it and I don't think they have ever replaced the O2's

the general consensus on this site (as ive seen time and time again with polls) is ngk plugs, and msd wires... as for o2 sensors, gm ones will do u fine, but if they arent broken... dont fix them... thats money u can put into go fast parts... if u want oil recommendations... search the user "Patman" he is the local oil guru here

I use NGK TR55 and MSD's. Just make sure you bend the msd's away from the headers. I didnt on my firt set and fried a couple. And I just replaced both front O2 sensors and am lookin at my wideband options now. I probably just wasted that money when I could have bought a Dual channel WB with O2's and just simulated narrowband.

With that many miles you may want to consider replacing the fuel filter, since you are doing the tune up. You could also clean the MAF sensor.

i could be wrong but the 13111 will not be in your best interest if you don't have headers the 13111 is a rear o2 sensor with a longer harness this is used on our cars with headers because the o2 is further away and can have problems heating up to get a good reading the 13111 heat up faster further downstream

also there was a user that posted TR6. this is a step colder than factory commonly used with nitrous

if you want the best all around plug get a copper core. if you do some research copper is a better "performance" plug due to its properties however you have to change them alot more often most users on here seem to get the TR-55 or the TR-55IX also if you do some research on who makes AC delco Irdiums i bet you NGK makes them.

also bosch is almost the only distrubitor of o2 sensors except for NGK (another large brand of o2 sensor) so save yourself some money and just pick up o2 sensors at a parts store instead of going to a dealer.

waiting2bl33d seems to know what he's talking about...anyone else agree or disagree with him?? copper or iridium??...for now I guess i'll wait to change the O2's since I do plan on getting headers in the near future...also i need to replace the fuel filter, any brand that you guys favor??

ac delco iridiums work perfect and will last you another 100k. I used an autozone fuel filter, but I'm not sure what is best. MSD wire here as well. I don't think a copper core plugs is really important on such a high voltage ignition system.

He's correct about the general view. But I run the AC Irridiums. They are spendy, but have worked flawlessly since i started using them.

I just went for the regular TR55's gapped at .055. Work well for me. And I have one 13111 O2 sensor up front and there is a ton of extra wire. Kinda hard to tie up so it doesnt hit anything hot.

If its stock, you can't beat stock factory wires, leave them on. If they're messed up all you need is $30.00 Advance Auto wires. You only need better wires when your hp gets over 600. My Taylor Thunderbolts did absolutely nothing over my stock factory wires on my 436 stroker. And they are junk because they break when you pull them off, boot puller or not.

I've got over 90,000 miles on my 436 stroker and its still running like day one, non-synthetic oil the entire time. So, you can spend money for synthetic if you want, I think its all hype. Change your oil and filter every 3,000 and you'll be fine with non-synthetic. Non-synthetic has been working for over 100 years world-wide.

Bosch 02 sensors are ****, IMO. Maybe its becuase of my engine and LT's, I don't know. I used them when I replaced my factory 02's that were 9 years old with Bosch and they sucked. I went and bought AC Delco 02's and the engine ran perfect again. Get them here for half the price of the dealer: www.rockauto.com Brand new AC Delco 02's.....$75 each.
