Default Started running ruff??????

Hi all,
I was sitting in a drive thru earlier today in gear with the air on whan all of a sudden the car started ideling very ruff and sounded like it wanted to dye. I am a total newby with these late model car but if same type of ruff running sound happened with one of my older cars it most likely would have been some dirt in the needle and seat of the carb causing it to run ultra rich and try to flood.

I keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running so it wouldnt dye and headed strait home. The service engine soon light came on and at times would just flash off and on and then just stayed on. I was afaid to shut it off at the resterant incase I couldnt get it restarted as I had my 2 young daugters with me.

When I got home I let it sit for 15 mins or so then cleared the SES light by removing both the fuses under the hood. I fired it back up and it sounds great just like nothing had ever happened.

Any ideas what could have happened???

Thanks in advance,
Nick

You should've left the SES on and got it scanned IMO. Resetting the PCM cleared what was in there, now you'll never know what it was. Flashing SES is a misfire, but the code(s) will let you know what's going on.

Well I really feel stupid now, it reset the SES light so I drove it to Autozone and got it scaned. It had code P0301 which was a missfire on cyclinder 1. I popped the hood and found a loose spark plug wire Pushed it back on and the car rubs great I sure feel like an idiot.

Thanks for the help
