Default trouble with 1st gear

ok so I just finished putting in the LS7/LS2 clutch setup along with new slave, and a full master from GM dealer. Clutch is SMOOTH and drives great but I can not down shift into 1st gear unless I am doing like 5 miles per hour, or at a complete stop. If I push the pedal in and try to put it into gear right away it grinds but if I wait a second or two it goes right in. No other gear has any trouble. I didn't use a shim but was told that some do and some don't but the car fully disengages when the pedal is pushed in.....

Was thinking maybe I just need to bleed it again, the pedal does feel a little to soft anybody got any ideas

Yes it sounds like you just need to bleed it better. I assume it is engaging fairly close to floor?

Doesn't sound like a clutch issue to me.
