Question Over heated

I have a fun one for ya. This last week I've noticed my AC is not cooling well especially if I'm sitting still. Today my engine over heated. What I figured out is this. If I run my car without the AC on, I stay very close to the 190 temp. If I turn it on, I run up to 240 within a block. If I turn the AC off again, within a couple of blocks, the temp is well on it's way back down.

How the heck is this happening??? I know I need to have the AC serviced, but how is it over heating the engine?

definently your fans for sure if its water pump this will be a constent problem but check out your fan relays for fan 1 and fan 2 and u should hear the fans come on when you turn on the ac so look out for that as well but check out the relays before going deeper

If your fans are working perfectly than the front of your condensor is filled with crud and needs to be banged out.

How many miles do you have? I had the exact same symptoms and cleaning my condensor made the engine run cool as a cucumber with the A/C blasting in south Florida traffic and heat.
