Default my winter beater 88 century shuts down when going 30mph why??

well this will be hard to explain lol. i have a 1988 buick century (3.8) for my winter car and the last few months its been idling really rough but we fixed that problem with the cam sensor. but the main problem is that it just wants to die anytime while your going top speed usually happens around 40mph. all the lights come on as well. but starts back up after 2 min later? any suggestions thankyou!!!!!
