Default 98 Z28 eating starters???

A buddy of mine has gone through 3 starters in the past few years. Is there a starter problem with these cars? It's an all stock car.

still have my factory installed starter, no problems at all. what exactly is getting eaten up? If it's the teeth check the flywheel, see if it's warped or if any teeth are damaged. Is there any abnormal noise when it's working normally?

never really heard of any problems with the factory starters, is he buying these starters from an o'reilly/auto zone etc.? if so, that could be the problem

check the wires going to the starter, make sure they are not corroded or burt, causing a bad connection, get a napa or Oreilly starter, they are usually better than the advance/autozone

I haven't do a GM starter in a while but remember they were fond of using shims. Perhaps these are missing or needed.
