Default Thumping noise after shifts

I am having a loud solid clunking noise after upshifting sometimes and also after losing traction and shifting into neutral (could be wheelhop) I have a feeling the problem is either my transmission or my torque arm that is mounted to the tunnel brace. The sound is coming from under the console. It is not a rattling loose sound but just solid thumps. Is this a normal problem for torque arms that mount to the tunnel brace as opposed to the transmission tailshaft? Any help is appreciated THANKS!!

Yeah I thought of that too...could be a possibility. Just when I'm WOT and I start spinning and let off the gas it does it too. That's why I thought it might be coming from the torque arm transferring wheel hop to the tunnel brace.

Still worth checking. Others had similiar issues and it was a tranny mount.

well...tranny mount was fine. I'm pretty sure it's where the tunnel brace mounts to the floor. It feels as if the torque arm is sending shock to it. Is there a way to go rubber or poly down there? It seems if I could get a rubber spacer between the mount and the floor it would dampen it some.

If you running a aftermarket ta then its probably it. my spohn ta clunks all the time. I thought it was the tranny mount to till i replaced it and it was still there. go ahead and replace the mount its only 30 buck for a polyurathane mount. hope that helps

Like fastlane said if you have an aftermarket TA then yes that's probably what it is. This happened on my buddy's car. I forget what he had to do to fix it though. I'll have to check with him.
