Haha looks like someone hid a sewing machine under your hood, bro. I have the same problem and I've been told it's either sticky lifters or just a problem when the engine is cold but I would like an answer to this problem too.

Check for any exhaust leaks or loose spark plugs/wires.

Slightly thicker oil will quiet it down.....I have always used 4 qts of 10w30+ 1 of 20-50 Castrol. ...The addition of the 1 qt of thicker oil seems to quiet it down.....although, I guess I am lucky, I really have never had the ticking everyone talks about , it seems.....I also have warmed up my car for a minimum of 5 minutes when cold, since I purchased it new...

I'm new to the Camaro side. I had 3 stangs. Didn't know about the LS1 ticking all the time. I have 5w30 in it so i guess the next change i will go 10w30 and see what happens. When you say quiet it down what is it that i'm quieting down? I trying to ask what is making the ticking noise?
