Exclamation HELP!! - pop-up motors will not stop running after battery swap?!?!?

Please help! Never make an emergency request for info like this, but here is the short:

Car batter has been completely toast, won't even charge, so car is basically starting fresh I guess in terms of diagnostics, etc. I just swapped in a yellow top optima batter, and all of a sudden my pop-ups open up, then close, then the motor just keeps spinning, sounding like its stripping the gears!!

They finally stopped, but when I go to use the lights now, when the pop-ups go down, it does the same thing every time, just spins and strips the gears for about 30-60seconds.

What happened? What can I quickly do to fix so nothing gets damaged???

I found this post, but not sure why both headlights would strip out a gear at the same time, with a battery swap. I've never had an issue with my lights, car is barely used.

I don't have the Factory Service Manual for your model, but I have to think that someone on here does... Maybe there's a special procedure for resetting headlights. There is another thread on here regarding how someone else's headlights made a dent in the limiter... Try searching. Otherwise find a FSM!
