Default Clunking from the rear in the cold?

It might just be a coincidence, but since the temps dropped last month I've been noticing a clunking coming from the rear. It doesn't feel like there's anything loose back there, I can't feel the clunk, but I can hear it. It's pretty annoying, actually.

When I bought the car in Aug it was nice and quiet, no noises, but since the middle of november when it finally started getting cold, I've been hearing it.

I've heard that some shocks can make noises in the cold, could that be the culprit?

Any thoughs?

Thanks!

Think so? So does this mean they need to be replaced, or is it just something they do?

I wanted to replace them with something better, but I was hoping to hold out till spring.

And sorry, I forgot to specify....I live in RI, It's pretty much been in the 30's to low 40's since the middle of November.

It's not when I put it in gear, it does it going over bumps.

My car does the same thing. I have been told by everyone that the shocks were doing it. I am plannning on replacing mine with the koni/strano setup.

+1 here.

My '96 had it when I bought it (used). My 2000 has/had it (just bought it). It was clunking really bad on the passenger side. I took out the control arm and both bushings (just the rubber part) just fell out of the control arm. Still have to do the other side.
