Car Off, Key Out, Door Open, And Radio On
so i just bought this car recently. i turn the car off. take the key out. and the radio and windows and everything work which is normal. it should stop when i open my door, but it doesnt. it just keeps playing. it will only stop after 10 minutes or if i open the passenger door. wow, now that i said that i wonder if some wires got crossed since it only turns off when the passenger door opens. either way, info to diagnose and possibly fix this would be appreciated. my car and mods are in my sig.

simplest thing to try first..check any fuse having to do with ignition...did the past owner do any modifications having to do with ignition(usually green wire)...for example..i had that same problem..took out the stock antenna..put an electric one..and the only ignition source i found was through the radio..so i spliced em and connected em...sometimes the when i open the door car without the keys..everything stays on (same as you stated)...so yeah...check all ignition related wires

Check to see if the domelight works correctly when you open the drivers door. If the dome light does not work then replace the door latch more than likely and the RAP will start working correctly. If the bcm does not see the input from the door pin switch when you open it, it never knows the door was opened and then the BCM times out at ten minutes and turns it all off.

Had the same problem.A switch is mounted on the door latch and this is how the BCM knows if the door is open or closed.I couldn't set the alarm either.I changed the switch but found the latch had a plastic mounting screw hole bad causing switch to move.Had to change latch also. Here is a pic.

01WS6/tamu,I'd like to make note of that part number if you happen to have it laying around.I put an Autozone switch on but still had trouble due to latch.Ordered what I thought was the whole thing fron GM parts Direct and it was still only the switch but came with some good directions(at twice the cost!).Ordered a latch from rockauto.com for 38.00 and fixed problem.Including directions now:
