Default Changing Spark Plugs

I have a 2001 c-5. i notice that the end of wires has a hex on it. do those need to be screwed off and can you just pull them off like most others, and need to know the what the gap for the plugs need to be set to. i have read

You referring to the boots? If so, I just give them a 1/4 turn (either way is ok) to break them loose, then popped them off. As far as gap, can vary by plug & usage (stock, supercharged/nitrous, etc). I used .050 with Bosch single plats on my daily driver Z.

edit: I like to use dielectric grease on the boots to keep them from sticking, and antiseize on the threads. You will quickly notice the factory used neither...

factory gap was .060. Though when GM discontinued the platinum spark plugs these cars came with and switched to iridiums, they lowered the gap to .040.
