Default Headlight Grinding (after gears fixed)

I put the metal gears in both my headlights because my passenger side wasnt going all the way up and was grinding. Today when I put the motors & gears back in, all was good when I tested it afterwards. Well a few hours later I took my car to get inspected and the passenger side(original grinder) starting grinding again. It went all the way up and down, which it didnt before the gear, but still grinds on up and down. Also the problem with them coming on with lock/unlock/park lights came back also.

Thanks

Sounds like too much clearance between the worm gear and driven gear, did you check to see if the worm gear itself was toast? I ran into the same problem with mine after new brass gears, one started grinding just a month afterwards, and the other motor busted the headlight stops and would always pop up. Brand new motors from advanced cleares the whole problem up for $200. Oh, and this should be in the firebird section...particularly the headlight sticky...

Did you read through the sticky?
Make sure you push down the metal tabs on the motor:

The plastic housing will move and cause gear slack.

I did, mayby I secured it in the wrong spot, didnt check to make sure there was not slack in the gear. Dammit I epoxied the tabs down with the hardest stuff I could find. O well guess I have a full day ahead of me tomorrow.

Well apparent the cover started to come off slightly in the back, in a days time the new hardened(finish) aluminum gears(no more brass being made) had be stripped because I tightened the tabs incorrectly. But when I tightened it down with the 2 gears snug it all grabs well & fine. So working now!
