Default Mysterious rattle

Tried a search for this one but no dice.

Ive got a very strange rattling noise, it comes and goes at low speed/rpm its only there for maybe 1-3 seconds. it'll show up when i accelerate from a stop in daily driving, and after low speed turns but i would assume its the accelerating thats causing it. Its not every time tho, id say about 50% of the time.

Its a pretty rapid rattle, sounds more like metal on metal chatter. I noticed my sisters '02 trailblazer makes the same exact noise so i thought it would be some crappy GM part that a few people have had experience with. Any ideas?

Put it on a lift and run it. look for exhaust parts touching body parts first.

Could be a catalytic convertor breaking up.

I've had this exact same problem for well over a year now. Luckily, it doesn't seem to have any adverse affect. I'm pretty sure it's not the exhaust and I have no cats. It persisted through a clutch swap as well, so I'm pretty sure it's not clutch chatter. I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a busted motor mount or something like that.

so i figured out that with the cutout closed the noise is much, much quiter. its barely noticeable unless you hear it echo off of a car next to you. made me lean towards cats too but you dont have em so im still stumped as to what it is lol, i just know its very very quiet with the cutout closed as opposed to the horrendous rattle with the cutout open

Do you have an electric cutout? If so, the next time you open the cutout all the way and you hear the noise, try closing it just a hair. My McCord electric cutout would rattle a bit when it was all the way open.

Check the 02 sensors and make sure they are tight.
