Default problem in the first 5-10 feet of driving

i have a 3.8 car and otherwise its immaculate. BUT everytime i start off on a drive within the first 10 feet i get a dull grinding/ shimmy in the car. it only lasts a fraction of a second but it happens every time you first shift into drive wether the car is hot or cold. Otherwise there are no other signs of the problem. Only thing i can think of is the car just got a new cat. maby its rubbing for some reason?

did a bit more testing. Shifting into park and back to drive does nothing. The car has to be turned off and back on again. if you reverse then put it in drive it will still do it when you start moving forward.

It may be more of a light rumble than a grind. But it feels like it may be coming from the driverside of the engine compartment.

No ideas? I've gotten a possible driveshaft center bearing. Sound like a possibility?

Well, could be the brake pads. After starting out it never does it again? Drive just fine and only does this after the car sits? Stop and start and everything is fine until you stop for awhile and then you get a short vibration when first rolling again. If that describes it then it's just the brake pads sitting against the rotors and once you roll they push the cylinder back and clear the rotor fine again. Any recent brake work?

The car doesn't even have to sit a while. I could be in the middle of a two hour drive, Pull over to the side of the road, turn her off and right back on again and it will do it. But after that first time it will never do it again.

I was thinking possibly it has to do with engine vaccume and the anti locks?
